Agriturismo San Mattia Sport and nature in Verona

The Agriturismo San Mattia is located near the city of Verona, surrounded by the green and fascinating country where the famous oils and wines of Verona are produced.

The guests deciding to spend a farm holiday in Verona will enjoy a wide choice of sports activities that can be practiced during the stay: mountain bike, horse riding and walking.

The Agriturismo San Mattia's position is surely interesting for runners, since it is located on the famous European path E5.

This path starts on the Atlantic coast of Brittany (France) crosses the Alps passing through Switzerland, Germany, Austria and Italy, where the project was to arrive to Venice. The path covers a total distance of 3200 km. It currently finishes at the Verona Arena, passing just aside the Agriturismo San Mattia.

The Lake Garda is very famous for all the sailing and wind surfing lovers (in Torbole): the Peler, a characteristic constant wind from the North that reaches almost the entire lake, especially high and mid Garda; it constantly blows for the entire morning among Garda's shores. The Lake Garda (Lazise) is approximately 25 km away (30 minutes by car) from the Agriturismo San Mattia.

For winter sports and snow lovers we can suggest the ski lift systems of San Giorgio and Boscochiesanuova: they include some expert ski slopes - 1 black, 3 red - while beginners and amateurs can use other specific ski

slopes. Also snowmobile rides and walking with snowshoes can be interesting; they are organized day and night-time by the pro loco association of Verona. The area of Malga San Giorgio offers more than 50 km of snowfields for cross-country skiing lovers.

An ice stadium is found in Bosco Chiesanuova, where you can watch ice hockey matches and ice skaters performances or spend a fun day on ice-skates. San Giorgio and Boscochiesanuova are 30 km (45 minutes by car) away from the farmhouse.

Bike itineraries around the Agriturismo San Mattia

The Agriturismo San Mattia offers different "bike itinerary" guides for those who want to prove themselves on itineraries of different difficulty levels.

Bike riders, during a weekend vacation in the Verona's farmhouse, can choose among forty mountain bike itineraries with different difficulty levels including lowlands, hills and mountains.

The area that runs along the course of the Adige river, San Giovanni Lupatoto, Belfiore, Albaredo d'Adige, Bonavigo Badia Polesine allows long and sweet rides, ideal for beginners because they are developed along the level land and specially designed to match sports and gastronomic tours. During the ride, some restaurants will open their doors to the visitors to offer typical Veronese Lowland traditional dishes: potato gnocchi, "bolliti", "patisada de cavalo musso", cold cuts, and "pandoro". Other typical dishes include river fish, "risotto all'isolana", rice with chicory, polenta infasolà, scopeton (herring) and specially dishes with vialone nano rice.

The hills offer simple itineraries that are developed on the hillside, not too difficult, like those on the east zone,

between San Giovanni Ilarione, Bolca, Montecchia di Crosara, Soave, Cazzano di Tramigna and many others.

Some highly difficult paths and itineraries that lead to the mountains start from this hill foot towns; they are full of prominent slopes and they require a remarkable experience and resistance.

There are different paths along the Lake Garda that develop aside the lake shore and pass through the Bardolino vineyards arriving to the Valpolicella. The wine production is definitely famous in Verona: the Valpolicella, the Recioto, the Amarone and the Soave. In this area the bike is certainly the most ecological and practical mean to move across those internationally acclaimed vineyards.
