Tradition and innovation merged for a unique stay

The Agriturismo San Mattia has decided on 2007 to invest time and resources on technological innovation regarding the environment. The most modern methods of thermal insulation have been adopted during the last renovation to limit heat dispersion during winter and to keep rooms fresh during summer. Also the roof has been replaced with insulated material that respects the environment.

Thanks to all these improvements and to the use of modern technology, we have enhanced the quality of life on our farmhouse without diminishing its nature; it still keeps the image of the rural houses found on Verona's hills.

Modern solar panels connected to hot water tanks have been hidden among the roof tiles; they allow us to heat water for sanitary purposes from April to October without consuming methane gas.

We also use photovoltaic solar panels to reduce environment pollution; they produce 60% of our electricity needs. Thanks to some government contributions the Agriturismo San Mattia intends to increase its electrical energy production to become independent from the mains and to produce the entire farm electrical needs only with the use of sunlight.

A modern rainwater collection tank has also been built; we recover approximately 1200 cubic meters of water per year. The Agriturismo San Mattia uses this recovery water to irrigate its fields, that way we do not need to build water wells that with the passing of time may modify the territory's hydrogeology.

We are planning to install a high efficiency wood boiler that will allow heating the entire farmhouse during the winter using only wood waste.

All these innovations will lead us to reach a zero impact structure that respects the surrounding environment; indeed, the Agriturismo San Mattia knows that one of its most important resources is the environment surrounding it and thinks it is remarkably important to keep it unaltered.
